What is motivation? Explain types of motives.

Social motives play a crucial role in shaping social behavior, interpersonal relationships, and group dynamics.

4. Achievement Motivation: Achievement motivation refers to the desire to excel, accomplish challenging tasks, and attain success in one's endeavors. Individuals with high achievement motivation are driven by the pursuit of goals, mastery, and competence. They are motivated to seek out opportunities for personal growth, improvement, and accomplishment. Achievement motivation can influence various aspects of behavior, including academic performance, career success, and competitive achievement.

5. Extrinsic Motivation: Extrinsic motivation involves engaging in activities or pursuing goals for external rewards or incentives, such as money, praise, or social approval. Extrinsic motivators are external factors that drive behavior by providing tangible rewards or avoiding punishment. While extrinsic motivation can be effective in promoting behavior in the short term, it may undermine intrinsic motivation and diminish individuals' inherent interest and enjoyment in the activity.
