For instance, a door viewed from an angle still appears rectangular, even though its image on the retina may be distorted.

3. Color Constancy: Color constancy refers to perceiving the color of an object as remaining stable, regardless of changes in illumination or lighting conditions. Our visual system compensates for variations in lighting to maintain a consistent perception of an object's color. For example, a red apple appears red under different lighting conditions, such as in sunlight or artificial light, despite changes in the wavelengths of light reaching the eye.

4. Brightness Constancy: Brightness constancy involves perceiving the brightness of an object as remaining constant, despite changes in illumination. Even when an object is illuminated differently, we perceive its brightness to remain consistent based on our perceptual expectations. For example, a white sheet of paper appears white whether viewed in bright sunlight or dim indoor lighting.

These perceptual constancies play a crucial role in our ability to perceive and interact with the environment accurately. They allow us to maintain a stable and coherent perception of the world, facilitating object recognition, depth perception, and visual understanding. Perceptual constancies are essential for our everyday functioning and contribute to the richness and stability of our visual experiences.
